01 Jul The human evolution and technology.
Man’s intelligence is possibly the most useful tool he has to ensure his survival, allowing that with the passing of time we have been able to go from being simple advanced mammals to the dominant way of life on the planet. Fighting daily for food and survival is a chore of the past … isn’t it?
Despite our great intellect and ability to invent and use tools, we are able to overcome almost any problem, with the coming of civilization, life is no longer so difficult and simple to become much easier, but turn complicated. Dangerous tasks like hunting and gathering have been replaced by office work and long lines at various establishments. Civilization changed a hostile and wild environment, for a friendly and civilized one, but along with that change of environment came more needs, some that we would never think we would have, such as cable television or the Internet, things with which our new lifestyle would be very difficult or almost impossible to lead.
With the passing of time, technology advances and advances in an uncontrolled way, every day advances are made in various areas, such as computing and health, but where it is most prominent is in the area of telecommunications. Every day more and more advanced cell phones come out, which in turn are smaller and more functional. Comparing them with older models, it could create the illusion that new models are a rather magical device, since looking back 20 years ago to think that a phone might even be able to tune in to the radio (something that is It takes more than taken for granted) sounds like complete madness, even thinking that phones could have color screens was revolutionary at the time.
As social creatures that we are, humans have always had the need to communicate with each other, and over time that need in conjunction with technology have made us very connected creatures, always trying to show others everything related to us, the things we like, hobbies, even the things that we dislike just for the rush of having social interaction, and some other cases, the rush of being socially accepted.
When we think about the way technology develops, you may be prone to thinking something like “well… probably in a few years we will have flying cars” and yes, that might be true. Transport technology evolves very quickly, but is technology only about transport and communication? I don’t think so. There is technology for everything, medicine, education, environmental, engineering and chemical, and so many more, but the only ones being paid attention are only transport and communication, and there is nothing wrong with being interested on those specific 2. The problem comes when you best efforts are put mainly on those two areas, considering the others as less important. That’s the main reason why computers these days despite being more powerful, don’t really do anything more complex than what they have been doing in the last decade, of course one would argue that more complex activities to be done, but truth is that the only part that becomes more complex, it’s the part that we humans do, because technology, at least for the moment has a limitation, it need a human control for it to work properly, and while their processing power goes higher and higher, the human control is the one that needs to keep up with the complexity rise of the new tasks they need to do.
So far technology has granted us so much in so little time that there is really no technological problem, but the humans that use the same technology are often forgotten or put in second place, that’s why here on Netic we want to try to make work easier for THEM, the only way to make work easier for a machine is to upgrade it, but unlike machines, humans can’t be upgraded, so we need to find other ways to make things easier for them other than making people more intelligent or improve their computational skills, that’s why we put so much effort into providing an improved work area, where everything works smoothly and just as intended. That way people will spend more time working than on trying to get things ready or fixed so they can work.
